Position Overview:
Ultimate Staffing Services is actively seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to join a client's innovative team in California. This leadership role is pivotal in driving the engineering department's success, ensuring product quality, and managing a dedicated team of mechanical and electrical engineers. The position requires a hands-on approach to managing the engineering processes, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, mentor, and develop mechanical and electrical engineering personnel; establish clear responsibilities, priorities, performance expectations, and accountability.
- Provide technical and managerial oversight to the ECN Coordinator and ensure engineering changes are properly reviewed, documented, approved, communicated, and implemented.
- Directly manage the Sustaining Engineering Manager and maintain accountability for the performance of the sustaining engineering function, including existing-product quality, reliability, corrective actions, production support, service issues, dive testing, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure focus on New Product Development does not reduce appropriate engineering attention to released products, production issues, field concerns, or sustaining-engineering priorities.
- Work closely with Production and Quality to ensure new products are designed for manufacturability, testability, serviceability, repeatability, quality, and efficient production.
- Ensure appropriate design reviews, risk reviews, verification, validation, testing, and documentation are completed before products are released to production.
- Maintain overall responsibility for product safety considerations throughout the design process, including identification of foreseeable risks, appropriate design controls, testing, warnings, documentation, and risk mitigation.
- Identify applicable regulatory, industry, legal, and certification requirements for new products and ensure required approvals, testing, documentation, and certifications are incorporated into development schedules.
- Coordinate with outside laboratories, consultants, certification organizations, legal resources, or technical specialists when required to support product compliance and launch.

Additional Details:
This is a supervisory position with a minimum pay of $170,000 per year.
